In Teamfight Tactics season 7, Dragon Training is a rather unique trait as it can summon a Nomsy unit with significant damage and durability. However, the fact that Nomsy needs to be “nurtured” for a long time and cannot hold items makes Dragon Training less appreciated. Nevertheless, some Challenger players have found ways to use this trait most effectively. So, what is that method? Let’s find out.

There are two important points regarding the use of the Dragon Training trait that we need to know. First, Nomsy benefits from all skill damage increase effects from items (Strength Chalice) and energy regeneration (Mage system). The next crucial point is that you need to spend gold at the right time (usually right when you reach level 6) to maximize the upgrades for Dragon Training champions. Doing so will significantly speed up the upgrade process for Nomsy.
One of the signs that indicate you should aim to build a Dragon Training lineup is to acquire Heimerdinger and Tristana early on. After that, you can add other champions like Jinx, Tahm Kench, Shen… to activate important effects like Brawler, Festival, and Cannoneer. They will provide a considerable amount of damage to the lineup and help the player maintain maximum health.

By the mid-game, you can replace Jinx and Tahm Kench with better champions like Sylas and Lillia. Activating the 3 Mage threshold at this stage is essential because to win and maintain health, Heimerdinger needs to cast spells and stun opponents as much as possible. Of course, you shouldn’t overlook Lulu, a champion with high versatility in the later stages of the game.

In the late game, you should spend all your gold at level 8 to acquire the two important champions SyFen and Sona. SyFen works extremely well with Sylas and provides very annoying backline control capabilities. Meanwhile, Sona activates the Mage effect with her crucial energy regeneration ability. Additionally, you can replace Lillia with a Mage champion like Nami, Ryze, or even Zoe if possible.

Regarding the technology cores, the cores that provide healing and energy for the lineup are the strongest for playing around Nomsy. Based on Breath is also a strong technology core for this lineup in the late game as it helps many champions reduce damage and become much more resilient. This is crucial when facing powerful damage-focused lineups like Assassins.
For the “core” items, the Strength Chalice and Zeke’s Herald are the most important to boost Nomsy’s stats. Additionally, a Statikk Shiv is also a very good early-game defensive option, and you should combine it for Tristana as soon as possible.
