Before the release of patch 13.13 for Teamfight Tactics, Riot Games took emergency measures to nerf both the Mystic and Iron Solari items. This has caused the Kayle – Mystic playstyle and leveling to 9 to nearly disappear entirely. Combined with the current popular playstyle that uses multiple 5-cost carries, not many thought Kayle was a strong enough carry option.

However, a surprising statistic from the World Championship qualifiers for Teamfight Tactics (TFT) shows the opposite. Specifically, in the Eastern Asia region qualifiers, the 3-star Kayle composition has a top placement rate of up to 62.5%. In fact, this composition also boasts a 75% chance of making it into the final four players.

The main reason for these high statistics is that top players have discovered a more effective way to utilize Kayle. Instead of using the 4-6 Mystic threshold, players only stop at including Poppy and Maokai in the lineup. They will aim to upgrade all three units (Kayle, Poppy, Maokai) to 3 stars since they all share the same cost of 1 gold.
Upon reaching this power threshold, players can maintain their health exceptionally well and easily secure a spot in the top four strongest players. Moreover, players can level up to level 9 with these 3-star champions if they have enough time or obtain the right Augment. At that point, Kayle will shine brightly with her strong damage output at level 9.

The only weakness of this composition likely lies in the high skill requirement from the player. Essentially, players must balance spending gold to upgrade champions to 3 stars while also leveling up to 9. Perhaps this composition is more suitable for players who want to achieve the top spot or challenge their own skill levels.
