With patch 10.14 launching alongside the overpowering updates for Syndra, this champion is almost completely dominating Teamfight Tactics with her insane damage output and ability to cast spells continuously. However, this champion is not omnipotent, and let’s find out how a master like Trâu Best Udyr counters her.

Choose compositions that benefit from… dying
It sounds quite illogical because if the units are dead, what can they do? But the truth is, you cannot use magic resistance items to counter Syndra’s damage, so look for compositions that get stronger the more they die to turn your opponent’s strength into an advantage.

One such trait is the Shadow, which has its unit activation numbers changed from 3/6/9 to 2/4/6/8, allowing it to easily combine with various compositions for some surprising plays. Another name to mention is the Pilot; if you have Guardian Angel for a unit like Rumble, stalling with four lives is entirely possible, giving your backline time to take down opponents.
As seen in a recent stream, Trâu combined these two traits and achieved a remarkable result with the damage from the Super Robot dying, reviving, and then adding three downed Pilot units boosting key players like Jhin and Xerath, making it too much for them to handle. This composition was able to take down the Star Guardian – Sorcerer team with Syndra’s dominance.

Defensive items are a must
If in the previous meta, you wouldn’t face overwhelming damage-dealing compositions early on and didn’t need to care much about defensive items, at this point, this is the most crucial factor. In the shared selection phase, of course, B.F. Sword is still a strong item, but if you can’t get it, quickly look for a Silver Cloak or Chain Vest to combine with important items like Guardian Angel, Trap Claw, or Dragon Claw.

Of course, building defensive items early won’t provide much damage, but the upside is that your champions will be much harder to kill. Damage can be compensated in many different ways, but the ability to defend against particular champions like Syndra has limited options. A prime example is that Trâu Best Udyr frequently chooses and builds defensive items early, even picking up Dragon Claw right after the first shared selection round.

If possible, play at least one Assassin unit
Perhaps gamers have never wanted more Assassin units in Teamfight Tactics than now because they are the biggest counter to Sorcerer champions, including Syndra. Besides being able to jump to the backline, Sorcerer units do not have any attack damage to quickly eliminate Assassin champions. Not to mention units like Shaco, Fizz, and Ekko all have the ability to disrupt team structures or can dodge Sorcerer team abilities.

Therefore, you should consider playing traits like Shadow, Rebel, or Pilot to ensure there are champions in your composition that can counter Sorcerer teams.
