Giant Slayer
In patch 11.10 of Teamfight Tactics, compositions revolving around Vel’Koz are proving to be extremely powerful with their strong area damage. Furthermore, quickly taking down or interrupting the attack rhythm of Mage units is no easy task. This is because this composition has very effective crowd control pieces. Not to mention that Viktor’s skill generates a significant amount of shields, making the Mage composition incredibly resilient.

To interrupt Vel’Koz’s damage output, the most effective item is Giant Slayer. If the Mage composition cannot create a substantial health advantage with Vel’Koz’s skill, this team comp is likely to lose the game. The advice is to equip Giant Slayer to a frontline tank and position it centrally on the battlefield. This will allow players to interrupt Vel’Koz’s ability very early on and minimize the damage taken by the team.
Redemption Chain
This item was comprehensively upgraded by Riot Games in season 5 and has become significantly stronger compared to season 4. In the context of Vel’Koz being overly powerful right now, Redemption Chain is the most effective defensive option for compositions with many melee champions. The effect of reducing 30% damage from area skills that Redemption Chain provides is something too dominant that players should aim for.

The champion that utilizes the Redemption Chain item most effectively is probably Pantheon, as this unit can survive very long in battles thanks to its skill, Skyfall. Surviving longer in fights allows Pantheon to activate the healing effect from this item multiple times, keeping your Warrior lineup incredibly resilient. Additionally, champions like Rell, Taric, or Mordekaiser can also utilize the Redemption Chain effectively in some cases.
Storm Bow
If you have noticed, in patch 11.10, the number of compositions in the meta using many melee champions has increased significantly. Notable team comps include Warrior – Dragon, Mage – Dragon, Knight – Celestial… With strong defensive abilities and considerable damage output, these compositions can dominate the mid-game and give players a massive advantage in health and gold.

This has inadvertently helped Storm Bow quickly become a very powerful item. The reason is that the more melee champions the opponent has, the more the effect of reducing magic resistance from Storm Bow applies to multiple targets. This is a must-have item if you intend to use compositions that deal a lot of magic damage in the late game. Clearly, you can’t wait until you roll a Garen, so Storm Bow is always a strong, easy choice for Teamfight Tactics players.
