Garen
Currently, Garen serves only as a tank unit at the start of the game for a cost of 1 gold. Aside from his “tankiness” from the tribe – system providing health, armor, and magic resistance, Garen cannot deal burst damage or provide crowd control effects. This makes Garen’s value drop significantly in the mid and late game. Therefore, Garen is often used as a unit to hold tank items for more important pieces.

However, in Season 5, Garen has truly “transformed” in every sense. In addition to his value being increased to 5 gold, Garen now possesses the Divine tribe and serves as the face of Season 5 alongside Darius. Garen’s skill in Season 5 is incredibly comprehensive, dealing massive damage, reducing magic resistance, and even creating shields. Essentially, Garen in Season 5 is an extremely powerful frontline champion; this unit can even carry the team exceptionally well if equipped with multiple damage items.

Teemo
With his skill that applies a blinding effect on targets, Teemo often plays a supportive role in Marksman and Spirit compositions. This piece is rarely upgraded to a carry due to the abundance of stronger and more meta-appropriate choices. For instance, in a Marksman lineup, if you want consistent damage in the mid-game, Sivir is the optimal choice. Meanwhile, Samira remains an incredibly powerful carry in the late game of Teamfight Tactics Season 4.

However, upon reaching Season 5, Teemo has undergone a significant transformation and become the “final boss” of the Demon lineup. Teemo in Season 5 is so unique that you must use Spirit health (not gold) to purchase this unit. Additionally, Season 5 Teemo is incredibly strong even at 1 star, with an area damage skill and an effect that reduces opponents’ attack speed by 50%. Indeed, the Demon lineup is nearly “invincible” if you possess Teemo and reach the threshold of 7 champions.

Jax
In the Duelist lineup of Season 4, Jax typically played the role of a tank unit with the ability to dodge attacks through his Counter Strike skill. If equipped, Jax could only hold aura items to buff the main carry. In terms of damage or burst potential, Jax clearly could not compete with other champions like Yasuo, Tryndamere, or Lee Sin. Thus, players rarely pushed Jax to be the main carry when playing a Duelist team.

Yet, in Season 5, Jax has transformed into an incredibly powerful carry with a cost of 4 gold. With the Armored tribe, Jax will possess a significant amount of armor. The Warrior system provides Jax with a strong shield and increasing attack damage over time. You don’t even need to build attack speed items for Jax, as this champion’s abilities already provide plenty of those stats. It’s this absurd perfection that makes Jax highly regarded by many Challenger players in Season 5.
