Thus, after the final match of the Quarter Finals of the Worlds 2023, T1 is the team that advanced after defeating and eliminating LNG Esports. In fact, T1 was not rated as highly as LNG before the match. However, what happened during the game showed that T1 was truly prepared for the challenges from the Quarter Finals onward, especially when they are now known as “LCK’s last hope.”
Of course, both teams made significant efforts, but clearly, T1 had far superior players while LNG continued to make mistakes. Even seasoned players like Scout and Tarzan couldn’t support their teammates. In fact, Tarzan was the lowest-rated player of the match, and notably, he achieved a “record” that no Jungle player managed at Worlds 2023.
Specifically, since the Swiss round began with all matches from BO1, BO3 to BO5, Tarzan is the only Jungler whose team played 3 games but he couldn’t secure any Dragon buffs. In fact, this performance is even worse than the teams considered the weakest in the Swiss round like GAM Esports or Team BDS. The reason being that they only played BO3 at most. However, even so, the match GAM – Gen.G ended early while BDS always secured at least 1 Dragon throughout their matches.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Faker had an excellent day, especially with the champion Azir. Specifically, Faker is the only player to use Azir and win against Orianna of the opponent at Worlds 2023. This is a very proud achievement but completely understandable. Both Azir and Orianna are Faker’s signature champions. In the match against LNG, Faker also used Orianna and dominated Scout’s Azir thoroughly in game 1. Notably, Faker did not do this just once. Both victories of Azir against Orianna at Worlds 2023 belong to Faker (the other match was game 1 against BLG).
Clearly, Tarzan has had one of the most forgettable BO5 series of his career as he was completely neutralized in securing extremely important buffs in the game. Meanwhile, Faker and T1 are on a high streak, and they will certainly need to maintain this for their upcoming match against JD Gaming, which is expected to be much more challenging.
