After the friendly tournament between PCS and VCS concluded, the head coach of Talon Esports – the champion of this tournament, unexpectedly sparked controversy by continuously posting derogatory remarks and criticizing Team Flash. Initially, the gaming community believed that this coach was just “bragging,” but his excessive language somewhat caused offense among the fans.

“Correct, we are not champions. By the way, you guys aren’t lucky every day, right? Cowards.”
“We are not champions. It’s true; we just got lucky.”

After investigating why the Talon coach was so “hostile” towards Team Flash, it turned out that everything stemmed from a language misunderstanding. The name Talon Esports is the same as the character Talon in League of Legends, and Team Flash made a meme mocking this.

However, “Champion” can mean both “Champion” and is a generic term referring to characters in League of Legends. The head coach of Talon Esports misunderstood and thought that Team Flash was mocking Talon Esports as “not worthy of being champions.”

After realizing this unfortunate misunderstanding, the aforementioned coach issued a statement to clarify and apologized to Team Flash and their fans for his offensive behavior:

“Hello Team Flash fans.

I am Coach Seok of Talon Esports.

Recently, I have caused some controversies on Facebook. And I sincerely apologize for that.

At the time of the incident, our team was also having some issues, which made me extremely stressed and sensitive. At that time, I saw Team Flash’s post.

The content was: ‘Talon is a team. Not a champion.’

I had no idea that their implication was referring to the character Talon.

I completely misunderstood the meaning of that meme, and because I wasn’t feeling well, I reacted excessively.

I sincerely apologize to everyone for this misunderstanding.

It is strange that the two mid-season friendly tournaments broadcast in Vietnam, the Mid-Season Cup LPL – LCK and the Mid-Season Showdown PCSxVCS, which were created to foster interaction between regions, have both been embroiled in drama, from the incident of Chinese fans attacking Canna over suspicions he was “throwing shade” about the pandemic, to the story of Talon’s coach continuously attacking Team Flash just due to a language misunderstanding, making it quite a “lively” summer.
