At MSI 2022, Saigon Buffalo smoothly advanced through the group stage but did not achieve favorable results in the Rumble Stage. The “Buffalo” could only create a few surprises in the final rounds when they were already confirmed to be eliminated, by defeating both PSG Talon and G2 Esports while also giving some trouble to Royal Never Give Up. In addition, SGB received a lot of praise for their performances.

In an interview after finishing their journey at MSI 2022, Taki – the Support player of SGB and arguably the most noticed player by opponents, was in a completely relaxed mood after his first MSI. Taki stated that he and his teammates were very happy after defeating G2.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the team’s initial goal was to eliminate G2: “We are very happy with this victory, and honestly, at first, we wanted to knock G2 out of the top 4. Why? Because Jankos dared to ‘betray’ the VCS community.”

Additionally, Taki expressed regret that he and SGB could not defeat T1. He believes that he and the SGB team would have been even happier if they could have beaten Faker and his teammates. However, the SGB players might also be aware that this could just be a wish. Despite some not-so-convincing matches and some members of T1 not being at their peak performance, the LCK representatives remain a very strong team, far surpassing SGB in experience and skill.

But still, it cannot be denied that the young players from VCS had a successful MSI. Not only being the youngest team, SGB entered MSI 2022 with a lot of doubts from both the audience and experts. However, they overcame all challenges and even received praise and respect from both opponents and fans from other regions. And this surely serves as valuable experience for SGB as they look forward to Summer 2022 and, further down the line, the World Championship 2022 at the end of the year.
