T1’s Keria: It wasn’t necessarily difficult; there were just some matches where we didn’t operate smoothly. For example, in the first match against SGB, Gumayusi and I had a less-than-ideal start.
Question: After the Play-In Stage, MSI 2022 has become much more intense. Which team do you think will be T1’s biggest competitor?
T1’s Keria: In a Bo1 match, it’s RNG, but G2 Esports is the toughest team to deal with in Bo5 matches. We have scrimmed with G2 and observed them play a lot; I think their Mid and Support players often make movements at quite “quirky” timings. They seem to think much stronger than I expected, and watching G2 play gives me many new ideas.
Indeed, with a team that plays methodically and controls the game like T1, they might find teams that play unconventionally like G2 Esports quite daunting. Unconventional here not only pertains to surprising champion picks but also to the way they move as a team or attack opponents at unexpected times.
For instance, in the match against EG, by conventional logic, Yasuo facing Twisted Fate would need to find ways to push the lane and solokill to prevent the opponent from leveraging the Destiny ultimate. However, Caps did something no one expected: he ganked with just a pair of Berserker’s Greaves and caused EG to lose complete control in the Dragon pit area. This movement caused EG to lose all the advantages they had just created in the previous attack.
