T1’s Elimination Could Help South Korea’s LoL Team Finalize Roster for ASIAD

As we know, according to the process from previous years, South Korea’s ASIAD roster will be limited to 10 players from hundreds of options, and the players will participate in a training program before narrowing down to a final roster of 6 players. However, the LCK has undergone format changes in recent years, and the selection process is believed to depend heavily on the LCK Cup and First Stand. Recently, T1’s early exit could help South Korea finalize their ASIAD roster sooner.

Initially, this situation could be quite troublesome as both T1 and Gen.G had extremely promising players, competing consistently with similar performance levels. In fact, many believed that T1 vs Gen.G would be the grand final of the LCK Cup 2026. However, with T1’s elimination, the chances for players from this team like Doran and Oner… will likely be seriously jeopardized.

Gen.G Members for the South Korean LoL Team at ASIAD Will Also Be a Safe Choice

In this context, it will almost exclusively be the “monopoly” of players from Gen.G, and considering many aspects, the choices from the yellow-black team will also be the least controversial. Across all positions, Gen.G players are proving to be superior compared to the rest in both experience and skill. Therefore, with T1 eliminated, Coach Hirai will likely have less headache in deciding who to include or exclude among so many options.

Not to mention, Gen.G players have always shown good performance throughout most of the early season. With the performance they have displayed, the 2026 season has not shown any unexpected exceptions from Gen.G, and the ASIAD gold medal in LoL will likely remain in the hands of the South Korean team, once the superstars from the reigning MSI champions are involved.
