As of now, the standings at the top of the LCK Summer 2023 seem to have been nearly decided. Specifically, Gen.G and KT Rolster (KT) will be the two leading teams, while Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) and Dplus KIA (DK) occupy the next two spots. Even T1 has firmly secured its 5th position after Faker’s return and a winning streak.

However, the competition for the 6th position in the LCK Summer 2023 is extremely fierce. Four teams, including Liiv SANDBOX (LSB), DRX, Nongshim RedForce (NS), and Kwandong Freecs (KDF), are vying for this spot, with only one win separating them. In fact, if LSB defeats T1, they will almost certainly secure that 6th position.
For this reason, LSB was highly motivated for their match against T1 in the final week of LCK Summer 2023. However, they could only manage to win one game, ultimately losing to T1 with a score of 1-2. With Faker’s return, T1’s ability to control the game and coordinate team fights has improved significantly. Therefore, LSB had no chance in the decisive third game and had to accept defeat.

This victory for T1 has kept DRX, NS, and KDF’s hopes alive for a top 6 finish. It’s important to note that LSB’s next opponent is KT, a team currently in excellent form. Therefore, the match against T1 was LSB’s biggest opportunity to earn points. However, they failed to capitalize on it and found themselves unable to determine their own fate.
The team currently considered to have the upper hand for the 6th position is DRX. They previously defeated OK Savingbank BRION and will only face KDF in the final round. If DRX wins and NS and LSB lose to KT, BeryL and his teammates will secure a spot in the LCK Summer 2023 qualifiers.

Of course, the above assessments remain theoretical. The teams DRX, LSB, NS, and KDF still have their own chances to secure that crucial 6th position. This makes the final matches of the LCK Summer 2023 Group Stage extremely exciting.
