On their first day of competition in the LCK Summer Playoffs 2021, T1 brought back AD carry Teddy to replace Gumayusi to face Liiv SANDBOX. The brilliance of Teddy, Faker, and their teammates led T1 to a convincing 3-0 victory, affirming T1’s status as a championship contender despite facing numerous challenges during the group stage.
Teddy himself, after about a month and a half sitting on the bench for Gumayusi, marked his return in the sweetest way possible. In fact, this player was one of the most important factors in T1’s victory today. Teddy was also voted MVP of game 1 with a KDA of 5/1/13. The champion Ashe in his hands completely shut down Prince’s Kalista.

In the post-match interview, the reporter asked T1’s AD carry which opponent he would choose if given the option in the semifinals. Teddy confidently responded that he would still choose Gen.G:
“Both DK and Gen.G are teams with a wide champion pool and a very ‘unique’ playstyle. But DK is like an unmovable wall, while facing Gen.G feels like a knife fight. Knife fights are much more interesting.”
Additionally, Teddy believes that if they face Gen.G, game 1 will be extremely important: “[…] If we win game 1, the rest will be very easy, but if we lose, the subsequent matches will be very difficult. Game 1 will be extremely important.”

This Summer, T1 has a very good head-to-head record against Gen.G in the group stage, winning both the first and second rounds, even during their crisis phase. However, Gen.G has the upper hand as they crushed Faker and his team 3-0 in the Spring 2021 playoffs. With a recent triumph over a tough opponent like LSB, T1 is expected to fully repay Gen.G to continue their journey towards securing a spot in the 2021 World Championship.
