On the afternoon of August 28 (Vietnam time), the final match – the LCK Summer Finals 2021 took place with a showdown between DWG KIA and T1. The overall victory belonged to DK with a score of 3-1, and a series of records were set during the most anticipated match in the League of Legends community today.
In addition to the individual and team records established by coach kkOma and his team, the match between DK and T1 also set a new record for the highest League of Legends tournament in Korea. Specifically, there were 1.3 million viewers watching the DK – T1 match live worldwide. This figure sums all views across all platforms streaming the match.

With 1.3 million viewers, the DK – T1 match also broke the viewership record that had stood for over a year from the LCK Spring 2020 with 1.07 million views. Notably, the views from LCK Spring 2020 were calculated based on the total of all matches of the tournament. Following closely were the LCK 2020 Regional Qualifiers and LCK Spring 2021.
Not only in South Korea, but the League of Legends community worldwide focused all attention on the match between DK and T1. In terms of significance, in addition to the direct ticket to the World Championship and the LCK Summer 2021 championship, this was also a match between the top rival duo in the League of Legends scene in Korea and worldwide. It can be said that this was a match between T1 and the team representing the new era, for the new generation of talented young players in Korea – DK.

Although in the end, Faker and his teammates could not bring home the 10th championship for the “Demon King,” with what they have shown, especially in the difficult phase after parting ways with coaches Daeny and Zefa, they can confidently assert that they remain a heavyweight contender, a formidable force at the upcoming 2021 World Championship in Europe.
For DK, the domestic championship will be a stepping stone for the team to gain more confidence in their journey to defend the World Championship title, especially when other incredibly strong teams like FPX and MAD… are performing extremely well and ready to challenge DK’s throne at any moment.
