On May 18, the MSI 2023 winners’ bracket final between T1 and JD Gaming (JDG) officially took place. Living up to the audience’s expectations, both teams delivered five matches with extremely high professional quality. However, JDG played better in crucial moments and won with a final score of 3-2.

This match clearly showcased the dominant playstyle of MSI 2023, which revolves around the ADC. Both Gumayusi and Ruler had their shining moments in the recent winners’ final. However, commentator Azael assessed that Ruler was the superior player in game 5, affirming his position as the world’s number 1 ADC.
“I’m not sure if it’s too early to say this, but Ruler has shown that he is the owner of the position of the world’s number 1 ADC. Gumayusi also played very well, but Ruler’s positioning in the last game was significantly superior. He didn’t give the opponent any chance to take him down at the end of the match; he played exceptionally well,” commented Azael.

Fairly speaking, T1 had a decent match against JDG. This is evidenced by the fact that they maintained a gold lead equal to their opponents even in losing games. However, Ruler’s calmness and composure allowed him to position himself perfectly to take down T1’s lineup during crucial team fights in the deciding match.

Of course, this defeat is not the end of T1’s journey at MSI 2023. They still have the losers’ bracket final to “make a comeback” and hold on to their championship hopes. Hopefully, T1 will learn valuable lessons to defeat JDG if they meet this opponent again in the future.
