T1’s results at the LCK Awards 2024 were expected
Despite facing worthy nominees like Chovy (champion of LCK Spring 2024) and Peanut (champion of LCK Summer 2024), Faker still took home the title of Best Player of the Year at the recently concluded LCK Awards 2024. Notably, it wasn’t just Faker; the entire T1 roster completely dominated this award.

Accordingly, the All-Pro Team of the year also belonged to all members of T1 who together claimed the throne at the 2024 World Championship, including Doran who has since departed. The controversial positions, featuring heavyweights like Top Lane (Zeus, Doran, Kiin) and Jungle (Peanut, Oner, Canyon), also went to T1 players.

Notably, throughout 2024, in terms of LCK, T1 did not secure any domestic titles and even entered the 2024 World Championship as the fourth seed. This has sparked mixed opinions indicating that the LCK may now only value international achievements, specifically the World Championship. Because even after winning MSI 2024, Gen.G received no awards apart from “Most Objectives Stealed” awarded to Canyon.

Fans are also dissatisfied with T1’s results
In reality, if considering the achievements over the year, T1 players might still be overwhelming. However, the absence of both Gen.G and HLE from the All-Pro Team seems rather excessive. Even if Zeus is currently a member of HLE, his performance at the LCK Awards 2024 is still based on his time with T1.
According to many opinions, it was the “misstep” of 2022, when Zeka won the Best Player of the Year award despite only having the World Championship title, that has caused difficulties for the LCK organizers. They are now forced to rely on the World Championship for judgment. If they do the opposite, the backlash could be even harsher.

After all, the award for T1 was the safest choice and may not be overly controversial. However, perhaps in the coming years, the LCK organizers need to seriously reconsider if they do not want this award to lose its meaning in the eyes of the audience.
