Since Faker and T1 announced his injury after the match against Nongshim RedForce, both T1 and the LCK have faced difficulties. From being in a secure second place and a potential early playoff spot, T1 has suffered defeats to DRX and Gen.G. Only recently did they secure a win against the current weakest team in the league, Nongshim RedForce. However, T1 has again fallen to another strong opponent – Dplus KIA.

However, just as T1 was showing some positive signs, the team’s management delivered some bad news to fans. Specifically, T1 admitted that there is still no information regarding Faker’s injury status or when he will return. Coach Tom shared after T1’s victory over NS: “Previously, former coach Bengi mentioned about 2 weeks. But currently, I think we need to discuss more because the team needs to evaluate the condition of his wrist. If it’s fine, he will return, but it’s really hard to say if he will be back next week or not.”

Thus, it is clear that Faker’s injury is more serious than anticipated. Moreover, with Faker set to participate in ASIAD, both T1 and the LCK likely do not want to take any risks with their legendary captain. Furthermore, if for any reason Faker is unable to participate in ASIAD or the World Championship, these tournaments would suffer significant losses. Even the LPL media has acknowledged their eagerness for Faker’s return and readiness for ASIAD.

With years of high-level competition, it is understandable that Faker has sustained an injury. Of course, the mid-laner of T1 is also doing his best to return. However, it is certain that no one wants him to take risks that could lead to further issues down the line. Therefore, in the coming time, T1 and the League of Legends community will likely have to prepare thoroughly for the worst-case scenario where Faker is still unable to battle alongside his teammates.
