Most League of Legends players are likely familiar with Syndra and understand that she is one of the strongest early game champions in the mid-lane. Syndra has always been powerful from the start with her short cooldown abilities, strong crowd control, and an ultimate that focuses on single-target damage. However, the Dark Sovereign tends to be less effective in the late game compared to other mages, compensating with her early game strength.

Therefore, Riot has altered Syndra on the Public Test Server (PBE) in a completely different direction, specifically as follows:
Passive – Supreme
– Syndra collects up to 120 fragments by damaging enemy champions and leveling up. These fragments will enhance Syndra’s abilities.
– Syndra will restore 20-215 energy (based on level) when collecting fragments from enemies. She can obtain fragments from:
+ Dealing damage (DMG) to enemy champions with 2 abilities within 4 seconds, receiving (1/2/3 Fragments at levels 1/11/18). 8 seconds cooldown for each target.
+ Leveling up grants 5 Fragments
+ Killing 1 minion grants 1 Fragment
– At 120 Fragments, Syndra will gain 15% total ability power (AP).

– 40 Fragments: Q can stack up to 2 charges (1 second cooldown between casts)

– 100 Fragments: Instantly kills targets below 15% maximum health
The most significant change for Syndra after this update lies in the fragment collection process. Because of this factor, players will find Syndra weaker in the early game compared to before, but stronger later on. Thus, Syndra is shifting from a strong early game champion to one that excels in the mid-game, but she won’t be able to carry like Viktor does.

To achieve 40 Fragments, players will need to reach level 6 or 7 and then store 2 charges of Q, making the “Magician” process easier. Additionally, Force of Will will now expand its effective range, and the ability will be stronger if 60 Fragments are achieved, meaning most players will max out W after Q.

As for Scatter the Weak (E), Syndra will now focus on crowd control effects. Players will create a wider stun angle, and can even combine it with a slow effect if the task is completed. Regarding the ultimate, Syndra will heavily rely on this ability. Firstly, the ultimate increases skill recharge points for Q, meaning Syndra will have to depend on levels to progress her power. Unlike the previous version, Syndra now needs to reach levels 6/11/16 to gradually enhance her power. Although the power of each sphere is weaker than before, if she has 100 Fragments, the ability will instantly eliminate targets below 15% maximum health, providing more peace of mind when facing champions with defensive items.

Essentially, after the changes, Syndra will have a completely different champion identity compared to before. Syndra will now require more time to become strong, and her burst attack capability in the laning phase will no longer be present. There will certainly be some changes in the stats in the near future, but overall, Syndra’s playstyle will lean more towards the mid-game with 2-3 major items. This is truly a wonderful change for Syndra.
