In the final days of the year, the Covid-19 pandemic unexpectedly took a turn, causing citizens to be caught off guard, and even plans to return home for Tet to reunite with family after a year of living and working far away were thwarted. Caught in a situation where staying is sad but returning is impossible, Divkid (Vo Thanh Tung) found no other way but to express his frustrations on social media.
Accordingly, the VCS Spring 2021 tournament was temporarily postponed, and Team Flash allowed its players to leave the gaming house and return home to celebrate Tet with their families. Having packed his luggage and said goodbye to teammates, the excitement of heading to the airport was met with profound disappointment when Teddy Quang Tri had to face the reality.
Upon arriving at the airport, the young marksman of Team Flash was informed that if he traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Tri, he would have to undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine. This meant that even if he returned home, Divkid would not be able to celebrate Tet joyfully with his family. As a result, Divkid felt mentally drained: “I thought I could return home to my mother, but I ended up having to quarantine for 21 days, so I went back. This year, I’ll celebrate Tet in Saigon, it’s so sad,” Divkid shared.
Sharing with us, the 2001-born player said: “This year, I will celebrate Tet at the Gaming House with Palette, as Yoshino also cannot return home. We do not plan to buy anything extra, just stay home and play games through Tet.”
This is truly a layer of sadness upon sadness for the boy from Quang Tri, as earlier in the opening matches of the VCS Spring, which was also Divkid’s debut to the audience in a new jersey, things did not go smoothly. He just wanted to be with his mother after a series of consecutive losses.
Although feeling very sad and mixed with many emotions, the marksman, despite being in Ho Chi Minh City – the glamorous city, still always looks towards his hometown, wishing for his family to have a peaceful Tet, even though this year’s Tet for him and his loved ones cannot be complete due to the pandemic.
