Just a few hours ago, Saigon Buffalo stepped into their second match at MSI 2022. Their opponent this time was “easier” than T1 from the previous day, specifically DetonatioN FocusMe – the representatives from the LJL region. However, DFM is not a team to be taken lightly. They had a solid performance at the 2021 World Championship, where they exceeded expectations by reaching the group stage even though they did not progress further. SGB also had an impressive showing against T1, despite not being able to secure a win due to the significant skill gap between the two teams.

The match unfolded just as experts and fans had anticipated: thrilling and captivating. DFM applied pressure and posed significant challenges for SGB in executing their gameplay. However, on a day when Shogun shone, the young AD Carry delivered, and SGB secured victory after a dramatic backdoor play.
With the victory over DFM and their gameplay in this match, SGB is proving to be the top contender for the second position behind T1 in their group. However, there are still issues within SGB’s gameplay. In the rematch, DFM will surely play more carefully. Similar to T1, the Japanese representatives will pose challenges for SGB, and if they play without focus, “the Buffaloes” could pay a heavy price.

However, the one who truly captured the spotlight of the VCS community during SGB’s second match at MSI 2022 was not the “Buffalo” players but rather… a translator. Specifically, alongside praises for SGB, many people’s attention was drawn to the male translator who assisted in interviewing player Shogun.

And for those who don’t know, the translator is Phan Hoang Dung. He is also famous for the clip helping Meliodas conduct an interview at MSI 2019, and the community praised him as the “Fluent 7 translator.” It’s quite a fascinating coincidence that Hoang Dung supported the Phong Vu Buffalo in the last MSI of VCS before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. And now, he is assisting this team in the first MSI of VCS after the pandemic.
Indeed, in this return to MSI 2022, the VCS community has experienced some incredibly exciting emotions. And surely, if SGB continues to perform well, the League of Legends fans in Vietnam will be even more thrilled. After all, it’s been a long time since VCS had the opportunity to make an impact on the international League of Legends stage.
