So far, the group stage of MSI 2022 has concluded with not too many surprises. The teams that were highly rated in their respective groups have claimed the top positions one by one. Among them, Saigon Buffalo, in their first chance for VCS to return to an international League of Legends tournament, has been performing quite impressively. The “Buffaloes” have caused quite a bit of trouble for T1, especially the bot lane duo of Gumayusi and Keria, as well as securing victories against DetonatioN FocusMe and Team Aze. Currently, T1 and SGB are the two teams with the best chances to advance from this group.

However, in SGB’s performances, there is still a clear indication of inexperience in competitive play. There have been numerous instances where, even while having an advantage, SGB players made very basic mistakes that could pose challenges for them if the game were to be balanced. Additionally, Froggy’s form has raised concerns among Vietnamese League of Legends fans as he has been taken down quite frequently.

Nevertheless, Froggy remains quite confident. In an interview, Froggy stated that he hopes to face the top mid-laners at MSI 2022: “Although I have faced Faker, there are still other top players. I want to face the best, specifically Xiaohu from Royal Never Give Up and CaPs from G2.”

With SGB’s strong chances of advancing, the possibility of the “Buffaloes” facing G2 and RNG is entirely feasible. CaPs is experiencing a resurgence after a disappointing 2021 season. Meanwhile, Xiaohu has always been the most reliable pillar of the “Royal Legion.” Certainly, these two mid-laners, like Faker, will also serve as a significant test for Froggy.

However, the confidence displayed by SGB’s players is certainly a positive aspect. After all, SGB was not highly rated when participating in MSI 2022. In fact, some viewers rated the “Buffaloes” even lower than DFM. What they have shown so far is commendable, and it is certainly reasonable to trust that SGB will deliver even more surprises in the upcoming matches.
