On the afternoon of February 24, the final two matches of Week 2 of the SEA Games 31 Qualifiers for League of Legends took place. Notably, these were two matches featuring two of the most talked-about teams in VCS at the moment: GAM Esports facing Luxury Esports and SBTC Esports meeting Team Flash.

Currently, both GAM and SE are performing well, particularly in the SEA Games 31 Qualifiers. Especially, since their victory over GAM, SE has been enjoying a sweet streak, winning all subsequent matches in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers as well as in VCS Spring 2022. For GAM, after their defeat to SE, the runner-up of VCS Winter 2021 has not lost any more matches and is currently among the top 4 teams in the SEA Games 31 standings, prior to the matches on February 24.
Facing a previously troublesome opponent from VCS Winter 2021 was expected to be difficult for GAM. However, in reality, LX at this moment is no longer the LX from VCS Winter 2021, nor the undefeated LX from the first round of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers. This emerging team has been completely “decoded” in recent matches. And on a day when all positions of GAM reached peak performance, an LX struggling through a series of poor performances had no chance of victory.
Although LX players tried their best and GAM faced some difficulties, overall, the 2-0 victory still reflects the complete dominance of the VCS Winter 2021 runner-up over Killerqueen and his teammates. With this victory, GAM continues to maintain its top position in the SEA Games 31 qualifiers standings.
As for SE, they were expected to face more difficulties against TF. Indeed, Palette’s former team made SE fans sweat. If not for the brilliant moments from SE players and Dante’s blunders on his return to the TF lineup, SE might have faced a bitter loss in Game 1.
Moving into Game 2, SE players continued to be clearly dominated by TF. The match ended quickly in just over 26 minutes, allowing TF to equalize in the score as well as hope to end the undefeated streak of the “national circus”.
However, in the end, TF could not end SE’s undefeated streak. The SE members played with too much initiative, especially jungler Spot. ADC Slayder performed consistently, but “one swallow does not make a spring”. In the final team fight, each member of TF fell one by one, leaving only Marcus’s Tryndamere unable to defend. SE secured a final victory of 2-1, continuing their undefeated streak in the SEA Games 31 League of Legends qualifiers.
With this victory on match day, SE and GAM concluded Week 2 of Round 2 in a very favorable manner. Although they still have many matches ahead and everything is not necessarily over for the defeated teams, barring any surprises, SE and GAM could be two of the four names that will compete in the upcoming semi-finals of the SEA Games 31 qualifiers.
