World Championship 2022 (CKTG 2022) will be a very special tournament for the League of Legends (LoL) community. Not only is it an annual international event of significant scale, but also filled with surprises and excitement from the players and teams participating this time. For the VCS community, this could be the first World Championship that Vietnamese teams have participated in again after a long period affected by various unavoidable reasons.

At CKTG 2022, many teams that have previously crowned champions at this tournament, as well as those who have won various MSI tournaments – another international event in the LoL scene, will be present. Additionally, this tournament gathers many players who have won the World Championship multiple times. Among them, the duo of Faker and Bengi from T1 cannot be overlooked. Once one of the most harmonious pairs that LoL has ever produced, now they stand on the same front line. The only difference is that Bengi is now the head coach of T1 at CKTG 2022, while Faker is still competing as a player.

However, there is another name that also holds incredibly unique achievements in previous World Championships and continues to participate in CKTG 2022. That person is Marksman Ruler, who is currently playing for Gen.G Esports (Gen.G). In the LCK Summer 2022, Ruler was one of the standout players who helped Gen.G secure the championship. Entering CKTG 2022, Ruler’s Gen.G is also seen as the top candidate for the championship.

Not only is Ruler a key pillar of Gen.G, but he is also the only player in the current roster who has experienced the feeling of winning a World Championship. It can be said that Ruler’s experience is crucial for Gen.G in this tournament. His goal, along with Gen.G, is nothing less than the championship.
Looking back at history, Ruler can also be considered one of the most unique players in the LoL scene among those present at CKTG 2022. He may not have as many championships as Faker or Bengi, but Ruler is perhaps the rare name that has gone through all the emotional highs and lows that a team or player can experience at the World Championships.

Accordingly, in 2016, as a rookie in the LoL scene, Ruler was the runner-up of the World Championship that year after losing to SKT T1. In the 2017 season, Ruler and Samsung Galaxy (SSG) successfully avenged and won the World Championship 2017. During this season, SSG also rebranded to Gen.G. In 2018, Ruler and his teammates were eliminated right from the Group Stage, marking the poorest performance of an LCK representative at this tournament.
In 2019, Ruler could not qualify for the World Championship. In 2020, Ruler and Gen.G were defeated in the Quarterfinals by G2 Esports. Finally, in 2021, Gen.G lost to EDward Gaming, who later became the champions, in the Semifinals.

Conclusion
With his many years of career, Ruler has experienced various emotional highs and lows. Although not every feeling has been positive, Ruler has overcome each setback to continue his career up to this point.
At CKTG 2022, Ruler may once again ascend to the throne. But whether he wins the championship or not, he certainly deserves to be one of the legends of the Korean LoL scene specifically and the world scene in general.
