Is Uzi’s Hall of Legends Skin Favoritism?
In 2025, following Faker’s HoL, Riot continues to release a new Hall of Legends skin line for Uzi, featuring two champions: Kai’Sa and Vayne. However, this skin line has sparked much controversy as many League of Legends fans believe that including Uzi is nothing short of a “favor” for the LPL region, especially since this year’s World Championship is being held there. The reason is that Uzi has never won any World Championship titles in his career.

Recently, Riot has also raised suspicions within the community that this publisher has indeed favored Uzi. Specifically, in an announcement about upcoming players to be voted into the HoL, Riot included a statement from Chris Greeley – head of the League of Legends department at Riot: “No region will be prioritized for the upcoming HoL skins. The jury will select players to be honored based on their achievements.”

After all, the very first criterion for selection into Riot’s HoL is that players must have won titles in both Riot’s international and domestic tournaments. Meanwhile, Uzi has only managed to achieve the highest title of MSI 2018. Since then, Uzi has been completely absent from the World Championship. This MSI title remains the only international title Uzi has ever won. Therefore, the speculation that Uzi was chosen for the HoL seems to stem from his influence in the LPL region alone.

Community Erupts in Debate Over Riot’s Hall of Legends Announcement
According to many opinions, this situation has long been speculated, as the LPL is a major region with one of the largest and most powerful communities in League of Legends and esports in general. Moreover, the revenue from Uzi’s HoL skin upon release hit “huge” numbers, making it impossible for Riot not to take favorable actions towards this region.

Furthermore, the LPL is increasingly falling behind the LCK in terms of professionalism. Therefore, Riot’s “buff” actions are necessary to save this region, preventing League of Legends from falling into a rut where no team can compete with the top teams from Korea.
