Recently, Riot officially implemented Vanguard across the entire League of Legends system. This is an application developed by Riot that was previously used for VALORANT to prevent any third-party interference in the game (software, applications) for cheating purposes. This system is even seen as a “iron fist” that has left hackers and players who enjoy “modding games” complaining because it doesn’t distinguish between software; any suspicion will lead to an immediate account lock by Vanguard.

However, the benefits for League of Legends have yet to materialize, and as of the evening of May 25th (Vietnam time), the Vanguard system has caused gamers to “cry out”. Specifically, when players log into the game, they only receive the message “Vanguard Error 84: Vanguard encountered an unspecified error and will close momentarily.” If players click “OK,” they are immediately exited from the game. Even some players who manage to access the client cannot click the “Play” button, as a message “Vanguard is launching” will appear.

For Vietnamese gamers, this is truly bad news. Many gamers can only play for leisure on weekends, but now they are facing an incomprehensible error. Some players can log in and play, but then encounter the Vanguard error forcing them to exit mid-game and lose points. Notably, this issue has also arisen in VALORANT on the Vietnamese server. Globally, the Japanese server has also reported issues as many Japanese gamers have sought help on social media X.

Notably, during this time, Riot has not provided any response regarding the existing Vanguard errors. A software that was intended to enhance the player experience is now causing frustration among gamers because this error has never occurred before in the League of Legends community.
