Not long after the new champion Bel’Veth officially appeared in Summoner’s Rift, Riot immediately introduced another new name set to join the ranks of League of Legends. Specifically, on the evening of June 17 (Vietnam time), the new champion named Nilah was revealed in a trailer by Riot. Instantly, the League of Legends community turned its attention to this new name, which many speculate to be from Bilgewater.
In the clip, Nilah appears for the first time in a rather gloomy port area, likely Bilgewater. Her skill set is also water-related. Additionally, based on her design and the weapon Nilah uses, the community speculates she is inspired by an Asian region.

However, what stands out the most is Nilah’s seemingly overpowered skill set. First is her ability to walk on water. If integrated into the game, this would likely be a passive skill that allows Nilah to move faster or even act similarly to using Ghost when in the river area.

However, the most concerning part is when Nilah begins to use her abilities to attack opponents. First, it seems that Nilah will be able to become immune to crowd control effects while dashing. This is evident early in the clip when she dashes through Jinx’s Chompers without being controlled. Next is her ability to dash back and forth between targets after eliminating them, similar to Kha’Zix.

Additionally, during a confrontation with Twisted Fate, when the Card Master casts the Gold Card, it is clear that Nilah activates something resembling a water vortex surrounding herself, making her immune to the crowd control from the Gold Card. However, when Twisted Fate uses his Q, this ability does not help Nilah avoid damage.

Many opinions suggest that if this champion Nilah also has dashes and crowd control immunity, she will indeed be overpowered and nearly become Riot’s “200 years of experience” all over again. Not to mention, Nilah demonstrates she is very mobile and could fit into various positions, from Jungle, AD Carry to Midlane. However, this is still just a teaser trailer. Gamers will have to wait some more time to access this new champion in the PBE.
