A few hours ago, Riot released more information about the new champions that will be featured in League of Legends for the 2022 season. Notably, the images that may be the final ones of Udyr’s rework were also shared in this announcement. While there is still no specific information about the new champions, the new images of Udyr’s rework have captivated the League of Legends community.
Compared to the images released at the end of September 2021, this new Udyr has had his horns removed, which led the League of Legends community to mistakenly think he looked like… Kaido lost in the wild. At that time, many fans of both League of Legends and One Piece wondered if Riot had “borrowed” ideas from the work of artist Oda, as the two names looked strikingly similar. The only difference is that Udyr does not have a long beard, a scar from a sword slash, and Udyr’s horns resemble antlers more than Kaido’s dragon horns.

In the new version, Udyr still retains his muscular build typical of a robust, hefty man. However, with the removal of the “cool” horns from the previous rework, many League of Legends fans candidly remarked that Udyr now looks just like… Thor from Endgame. Yet, one netizen pointed out that the new Udyr bears a striking resemblance to the character Necalli from the famous game Street Fighter, from his appearance to his attack stance.

Nevertheless, the majority of League of Legends fans seem quite fond of Udyr’s new appearance, as it embodies a middle-aged man who has experienced many ups and downs, the pains of life, and has wandered everywhere, being rejected by his homeland. Perhaps in the short time to come, the final images of this rework will be revealed, and the new Udyr may appear around mid-Spring 2021.
Additionally, in this announcement, Riot also hinted at several new champions that will be joining Summoner’s Rift soon. This will include a Support champion, a jungler from the Void, and a non-traditional Marksman. At the same time, Ahri will also be “aesthetically updated” in the near future.
