As previously reported, the VCS organizers recently made a shocking announcement to the Vietnamese League of Legends community, declaring the postponement of all matches for the final week of the group stage VCS Spring 2024 from March 15 to March 17. The specific reason provided by the VCS organizers was no more than “an unexpected incident.” This has led fans to wildly speculate. Some suspect a DDoS attack similar to that in the LCK, while others believe there might be issues stemming from recent updates to League of Legends. However, the more serious concern is the speculation surrounding a major “negativity scandal” that seems poised to erupt.

Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that on March 16, reports emerged that Riot has initiated an investigation into all 8 teams competing in VCS Spring 2024, including the officially eliminated team, Rainbow Warriors. The information indicated that Team Secret, Team Flash, GAM Esports, and Rainbow Warriors were the first teams summoned. The remaining teams have also been called in. However, although this information is marked “Riot confirms,” there has been no official announcement regarding the matter on any of Riot’s platforms.

While it is difficult to determine anything definitively, another negativity scandal (if it exists) could once again shake the Vietnamese League of Legends scene and potentially cause significant disruptions to the VCS Spring 2024 tournament. Unlike the prolonged playoffs postponement of SBTC Esports last year, this time, the VCS organizers and Riot must provide a prompt response to both the audience and the teams VCS so that players can focus on the Spring 2024 playoffs and subsequently MSI 2024.

Additionally, if negativity does emerge as some rumors suggest, the VCS organizers and Riot may not be able to impose sanctions as simply as they did with SE last time. This incident is sudden and may involve more than one team. If they proceed with a silent investigation and only announce the results later, it may not satisfy the VCS audience. Especially since negativity has not been an unfamiliar issue for the VCS.

However, for the audience, it may be too early to make any judgments. Aside from Riot and the VCS organizers conducting investigations, no one possesses evidence or any verified information. Therefore, any baseless rumors could negatively affect the teams and players involved, fostering distrust among fan communities and leading to unnecessary controversies. At this moment, the audience can only wait for Riot’s final judgment.
