For the League of Legends community in North America, it’s quite common to accidentally encounter a Riot employee while gaming. Besides creating new content for League of Legends, Riot Games employees must also play the game themselves to understand the opinions and desires of gamers. However, with a community known for its jokes, some Riot employees have found themselves in tricky situations while playing the game.

Specifically, on April 3rd, a member of the costume design team, The God of Fire for League of Legends, Daniel Leaver, also known as Riot Rovient, shared on Twitter that he was forced to change his name by the game’s system. The reason was that too many people reported him just because his name contains the word ‘Riot’, even though Daniel is a long-time employee of the company. Perhaps many gamers simply reported him upon seeing ‘Riot’ in his name.

Additionally, according to Riot Rovient’s sharing, many people also reported him because he was once part of the preseason design team, especially during the comprehensive overhaul of the item system. If you recall, during the 2021 preseason, Riot Games completely changed the item system, causing quite a few gamers to be frustrated as they had to relearn everything from scratch. Perhaps because Riot Rovient was also involved in this process, he received many reports as a result.

After the aforementioned Tweet was posted, many other Riot employees also shared their experiences with Riot Rovient regarding this issue, as they too had faced similar situations. It seems Riot Rovient’s account will likely keep his name in the game for the future.
