It has been nearly 2 days since T1 defeated Gen.G Esports in the LCK Spring 2022 finals to officially claim the championship of the highest League of Legends tournament in Korea. It has been exactly 2 years since T1 last won this tournament. Notably, this is the most perfect championship in LCK history as T1 claimed the title without losing a single match.

Although Gen.G faced defeat, overall in the 4 games, it can be said that Chovy and his teammates fought with all their might. With the team recently formed, Gen.G displayed a lack of synergy in several crucial moments during the match. Notably, in the games they lost, Gen.G players also made many critical mistakes, from the laning phase to team fights. However, it cannot be denied that there were moments when Gen.G made T1 fans “hold their breath” as they had many opportunities to turn the tide in games 1 and 3.

However, the decisive game 4 can be seen as a series of mistakes from Gen.G, from the banning phase to the actual game. But according to Faker, T1 still couldn’t be sure of victory despite having many advantages from the early game. Only when Chovy made a critical facecheck did Faker and his teammates know they had won: “When he made that facecheck in the left bush and got taken down, I thought he lost focus a bit. That was also the moment I knew we had won.”

The moment Faker mentioned was at minute 20. While Gen.G was pushing from the mid lane, Chovy walked straight into the bush for a facecheck with Faker and Oner waiting. As a result, Chovy was taken down for the third time in game 4. Faker stated this was the moment T1 knew they had secured victory because, in both previous times, Chovy had been taken down in ways that required T1 to exert a lot of effort, and this was indeed a critical self-inflicted error by the mid laner born in 2001. Immediately afterward, the entire Gen.G team was wiped out.
It can be said that Faker’s comments highlight how Chovy’s mistake severely impacted the game’s outcome. Even though T1 had a significant lead before, when Chovy fell as well, Gen.G had no hope left. Ironically for Chovy, he was the one who contributed to “bringing” victory to T1.
