The reworked version of Dr. Mundo has officially launched on the live servers of League of Legends. Before discussing the power of his new abilities, the reworked Mundo has truly scored major points in terms of appearance, as well as the interesting interactions that Riot Games has provided for him.
Notably, Riot has completely removed the classic cartoon graphics style in Mundo’s new design, yet still retained his… “holy tongue” (even though the reality is that Mundo’s tongue no longer appears in all of his skins as it did before). Additionally, one special interaction that players can explore while experiencing the new Dr. Mundo is his animation when attacking towers.

Specifically, when performing the tower destruction action, Dr. Mundo, instead of using his cleaver or fists, will… headbutt the tower, using his “headbutt” until either he or the tower goes down.
For the Director Mundo skin, this animation is slightly different as Mundo will hold his clipboard to smash into the tower, despite papers scattering everywhere. This is a rather interesting hidden detail from Riot Games, as the design of the Director Mundo skin is inspired by the “nouveau riche” style, and thus, this mad scientist has to also “tone it down” to fit the image of a… CEO.
If you didn’t know, the headbutt animation into towers of the new Dr. Mundo is actually one of the first ideas that the design team at Riot considered when bringing this champion to the drawing board. Although he is described as “crazy,” what Riot wants to express with Mundo is to distinguish his character’s personality from other “crazy” characters, such as Shaco. Unlike the madness accompanied by the cunning and trickery of Shaco, Mundo is simply “crazy,” and somewhat… silly.
The madness in Mundo’s personality is actually a portrayal of eccentric geniuses, and this will make the champion even more interesting when used by players who enjoy a “quirky” playstyle as well.
