Valorant has been a hot topic in recent days as the game has entered its beta phase, allowing streamers to play it freely. The allure of this new title has also piqued the curiosity of pro players from other FPS games like CS:GO and Rainbow 6 Siege, prompting them to give it a try.

Recently, the “circus” G2 Esports had the opportunity to try Valorant along with many players from the organization. It’s not surprising that two players from G2 Esports’ CS:GO team, Jackz and KennyS, were top achievers in terms of kills. CS:GO is a game that demands high basic skills such as aiming, spray control, and movement… For pro players, mastering these skills is a given, and in a new game like Valorant, it’s simply not challenging enough for them.

After a few trial matches, these members shared their thoughts on Valorant on Twitter, suggesting that the game might be too easy for them.

G2KennyS: “Valorant is quite fun, extremely satisfying to get kills, and the UI details are pretty cool. I hardly used any skills and just wanted to run around getting kills. Teamplay is also an important part of this game. It seems to be too ‘easy’ since things like weapon recoil are almost nonexistent.”
“Oh, and you can’t quickscope with the AWP. After playing my second game, I can say that some skills in the game are quite confusing and sometimes extremely annoying.”
A player asked: “Do you think it will affect CS:GO?”
G2KennyS: “This game is a lot of fun, but I don’t think it will challenge CS:GO.”

G2Nexa: “Valorant is a straightforward game, the skills are quite OP if you don’t know anything about them or understand them well. I can’t wait for G2 Esports to form a Valorant team just to lose 0-3 again.”

With Riot Games’ motto of simplifying everything as much as possible, it’s hard to see how it could challenge the top CS:GO players from G2 Esports. With such game design, we can understand that Valorant is aimed at mainstream gamers, aiming for as many players as possible. Perhaps as KennyS said, this game is unlikely to challenge CS:GO in terms of gameplay or difficulty.

It’s still too early to talk about the future of Valorant, simply because the game is not yet complete and is still in the testing phase.
