In stark contrast to other major tournaments, where most slots for Worlds 2021 were even determined before the Regional Qualifiers took place, the race for the top League of Legends tournament in the LPL region had yet to find any official representatives until August 27.
The Winners’ Finals match between FunPlus Phoenix and Team WE was the opportunity for Chinese League of Legends to find its first representative to Europe, as FPX would become the first team from the region to secure a slot at Worlds if they won this Bo5 matchup.
With Doinb’s incredibly dominant performance, the Phoenix squad completed their task with ease, defeating WE in just 3 games.
With this result, FPX officially advances to the LPL Summer 2021 Grand Finals, becoming the first LPL representative and the tenth name to appear at Worlds 2021. After a completely absent 2020 international season, the 2019 world champions have officially returned to this prestigious arena.
As usual, FPX’s current identity continues to revolve around the story of “Doinb and his friends”. While the bot lane duo of the Phoenix has yet to provide a sense of security, and although Nuguri and Tian have performed steadily, they haven’t shown the necessary spark, Doinb stands tall in the mid lane like a mountain. “Fashionable Teacher Ba” is experiencing the most glorious days of his career, showcasing a performance that is truly “all on his shoulders”. From winning lanes, roaming, ganking, team fighting, calling objectives, to trash-talking after victories… Doinb handles it all with finesse.

With RNG eliminated and EDG still showing erratic form in the Bo5 series, FunPlus Phoenix has almost become the number one candidate for the LPL Summer 2021 championship. Their opponent will be one of the two teams WE or EDG, and looking at the current performance, it seems both names will struggle to stop FPX from returning to the glory podium.
If FPX becomes the new champion of LPL Summer 2021, then Doinb will almost certainly be 99% likely to become the MVP of the entire season (he previously received the MVP title for the group stage), and the world will continue to be amazed by the extraordinary level of this mid-laner known as “The Clown King”.
