On May 15th (Vietnam time), Saigon Buffalo completed their mission of advancing past the group stage to join the top 6 teams in the Rumble Stage of MSI 2022. As the second seed from VCS participating in this year’s MSI, the players, who are still inexperienced on the international stage, have shown an impressive performance. With this crucial task accomplished, the SGB players can definitely bring many surprises in the upcoming Rumble Stage.

In his interview, SGB’s jungler BeanJ shared insights about his journey at MSI 2022. Specifically, the jungler stated: “I am very happy that the whole team has worked hard to reach the Rumble Stage. We believe that if we have enough skills and determination, we can definitely move forward.” BeanJ also mentioned that in the match against DetonatioN FocusMe, the team tried to stay calm even though there were moments when SGB was continuously pressured by DFM.

The young jungler of SGB made a remark regarding GAM Esports – the team that won the VCS Spring 2022 but could not participate in Busan due to national duty. BeanJ candidly stated: “We are just the second seed of VCS, but we have made it into the top 6. Everyone can look forward to VCS’s performance at the upcoming Worlds. The whole world should fear GAM. And SGB will also make all the critics who doubted the team silent just because we are the second seed of VCS.”

SGB has truly shown remarkable performances at MSI 2022 this time. Besides the two weaker opponents Team Aze and somewhat DetonatioN FocusMe, SGB also performed well against the “undefeated champion” of the League of Legends scene, T1, especially in the first match of the group stage. At that time, even the T1 players, particularly Gumayusi, must have been “shocked” by how well their opponent Shogun performed.

However, before entering MSI 2022, SGB was underestimated, both by domestic fans and international League of Legends experts and community. In fact, as known, right after SGB advanced past the group stage, commentator Hoàng Luân was extremely upset with the low evaluations of SGB. Among them were analyses suggesting that the “Buffalo Herd” would not be able to surpass the group stage to join the top 6 at MSI 2022 this time.
