Just less than two months after opening registration, the National Student Open Cup (NSOC) 2025 – the National Student eSports Tournament – has proven its huge appeal by reaching over 5000 students from across the country who signed up to compete.
The “Fever” of NSOC 2025 Spreads Across the Student Community
Launched in its inaugural season in 2023, the National Student Open Cup (NSOC) has quickly become the leading eSports tournament for the Vietnamese student community. This year, NSOC officially kicks off its second season, organized by Ocean Entertainment Group (OEG), in collaboration with BEAT Network, the implementing unit of OEG Studio, with advisory support from the Vietnam Olympic Committee.

With a scale of over 10 billion VND and a total prize pool of up to 2 billion VND, NSOC 2025 is not only a competitive playground for student gamers but also a bridge between eSports and university life, helping the youth explore career opportunities in the digital age. This year’s tournament records over 4000 players competing in Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and more than 200 Valorant teams.

“I am really excited because I can say this is one of the largest eSports tournaments ever for our student community. So definitely, I and the team members, alongside our studies, will dedicate all our effort and time to practice together, hoping to conquer the highest prize and bring pride to our school,” said Luong Ngoc Ha, head of the eSports club at the Interdisciplinary Science and Arts Faculty – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The impressive registration numbers right from the early stages have confirmed the strong appeal of NSOC 2025, not only in terms of the scale of the tournament but also in connecting eSports with student life, creating a healthy, dynamic, and opportunity-filled playground for young eSports enthusiasts.

NSOC 2025 Alongside Education and Career Guidance for Students
The tournament not only stops at finding eSports talent but also emphasizes educational value. A highlight of this year’s season is NSOC Unitour – a series of journeys connecting and spreading eSports to 6 university locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Each stop is a vibrant entertainment festival where eSports, technology, knowledge, cosplay, and music come together, with the participation of nearly 30,000 students from across the country.

NSOC 2025 proves that eSports is no longer just “entertainment games” but has become an integral part of the student development journey. By accompanying education through the Unitour events series and career guidance talk shows on various topics featuring renowned professional speakers, the tournament not only nurtures eSports talent but also contributes to building a generation of Vietnamese youth ready to face the 4.0 technology era.
The career guidance talk shows held at universities as part of NSOC Unitour have provided practical insights, opening up career opportunities for the new generation of students, ranging from AI, arts, economics to engineering and finance.

With the participation of thousands of students and support from universities, NSOC 2025 promises to be an important stepping stone, turning passion into glory and career futures. The tournament officially kicks off on January 1, with the national finals expected to be held at the end of November in Hanoi. A total prize pool of 2 billion VND awaits the most daring competitors!
