Recently, according to an announcement from VIRESA, the Vietnam League of Legends (LoL) team will not be able to attend the Play-In Round of ASIAD 2022 taking place in Macau. The reason provided by VIRESA is that the team failed to prepare the necessary documents in time. Additionally, according to information from the ASIAD organizing committee, the Vietnam team has been declared to forfeit all matches they were supposed to compete in at the event.

According to many rumors circulating earlier, the Vietnam team encountered visa issues that prevented them from traveling to Macau for the competition. Recently, former coach of SBTC Esports (SE), Ren, went live and shared about this issue. During the recent broadcast, Coach Ren stated that one player faced issues with their temporary residence registration, which impacted this player’s visa application. Consequently, this affected the Vietnam League of Legends team’s chance to participate in the ASIAD Play-In Round.

The comments made by Coach Ren have caused a stir in the VCS community. It is unfortunate that an individual’s issues have impacted the entire team. Moreover, this was a great opportunity for the Vietnam League of Legends players to compete together in an official match, since the team’s establishment for ASIAD 2022. Furthermore, being declared to forfeit matches will affect the seed ranking of the Vietnam League of Legends team at the upcoming ASIAD. Being almost guaranteed to be at the bottom could lead the Vietnam LoL team to face very strong opponents from other regions.
In a statement, a representative of SofM – coach of the Vietnam League of Legends team, sent a message urging the community to rely only on official information from VIRESA and to disregard any unfounded rumors. Therefore, the real reason for the Vietnam League of Legends team’s inability to attend the Road to ASIAN Games remains a mystery.

As for the Vietnam League of Legends team, the players will need to continue training and maintain their best form throughout the Summer Split leading up to the upcoming ASIAD. While a gold medal may be very challenging, almost impossible, the players will undoubtedly strive their hardest to bring honor to the country.
