Recently, DWG KIA made a surprising move by announcing the return of Daeny – the former coach of this team during the 2020 season, who was just fired by T1 not long ago. In this return to his old home, Daeny will take on the role of Analyst, supporting head coach kkOma.
After helping DAMWON Gaming (DWG KIA) win the LCK Summer 2020 and the 2020 World Championship alongside Zefa, Daeny and his colleague joined T1 as the head coach of the team.
According to reports from South Korean media, both transfers of Daeny – Zefa to T1 and kkOma joining DWG KIA were contracts with record salaries for these coaches. However, Daeny – Zefa faced quite a few troubles at T1, as they were unable to help the team achieve good results in spring, and caused a lot of behind-the-scenes drama.
Notably, in DWG’s championship achievement at the World Championship, Zefa was the one in charge as head coach, but when moving to T1, this position belonged to Daeny. After everything that has happened, experts universally agree that Coach Daeny is completely unsuitable for this role.
T1’s declining performance, along with controversial statements in the media, are considered the main reasons leading to Daeny’s dismissal. Another noteworthy point is that this time, Daeny returns to DK without the accompaniment of Zefa – his close associate. As of now, Zefa’s future remains a mystery.
