Right after announcing the return of coach Daeny in the role of Analyst, DWG KIA entered their opening match of week 8 against Afreeca Freecs. Everyone thought that the reigning world champions would easily secure a victory to welcome back the coach who had once brought them glory, as DK quickly took the lead against AF after game 1.
However, what followed was a disaster, as DK displayed an “incredible” performance and allowed AF to successfully turn the tide with a 2-1 victory.
In game 1 and the first half of game 2, DK completely dominated their opponent. However, a series of personal mistakes occurred, causing the team to lose their advantage in the second game. Somehow, DK made the same two mistakes within a single match, which were recklessly attacking Baron, and on both occasions, they succeeded in taking the Baron buff but lost 3 to 4 kills in return.
It seems that DK faced significant psychological issues after losing game 2 in a very hard-to-accept scenario, leading them to suffer another defeat in game 3 while being completely overwhelmed by AF.

Of course, with Daeny’s return being less than a day old, there is no reason to blame him for this defeat. DK’s disastrous loss was entirely due to the personal mistakes of the players. Nevertheless, many spectators have sarcastically commented on whether Daeny truly brings “bad luck” to DWG KIA.
Additionally, ShowMaker – who made several personal mistakes in game 2, has also become a target of criticism. Not long ago, he spoke in an interview about losing his competitive motivation, and in the match against AF, DK’s star carry displayed relatively poor performance, making it difficult for fans to empathize.
