Recently, South Korean media reported that the country has officially approved the organization of the Korea-China-Japan Esports Festival. This is a promotional esports event that promises to be held annually among the three countries of South Korea, China, and Japan.
The Korea-China-Japan Esports Festival 2021 will be hosted by South Korea. The event will take place over three days from September 10, 2021, at Seoul Olympic Park. In fact, this festival has been planned since last November, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed to September this year.
Notably, the Korea-China-Japan Esports Festival is an event planned by officials from the three governments. As this year’s host, an official from the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism has become the official spokesperson for the festival.

Four competitive disciplines have been chosen for this festival, including: League of Legends, PUBG, PES 2021, and Clash Royale. Among them, League of Legends is the discipline agreed upon by all three countries. PUBG was proposed by South Korea, Japan selected PES 2021, while China chose Clash Royale. Additionally, Dungeon Fighter Online from Nexon is also being considered as a demonstration discipline.

After the defeat at MSI 2021, Korean League of Legends is truly paying attention to this event. Since it is organized in early September, close to the time of the Worlds, it is certain that all three countries will not choose teams or players participating in this tournament to compete at the festival.
However, this is also seen as an opportunity for Korean League of Legends to “show off” its strength after losing the MSI 2021 title to China.
