In the early updates of the 2022 season that Riot brought to the League of Legends community, we cannot overlook the new champion Zeri. She is a Marksman introduced by Riot as hailing from Zaun. Her skill set has been revealed and is related to electric sparks. It can be said that Zeri has the potential to become the fastest Marksman in League of Legends history. In fact, with abilities like terrain traversal and “speed hacks,” many believe Zeri is more suited for an assassin role than a traditional AD carry.
And Zeri has officially appeared in Summoner’s Rift, receiving feedback from both casual players and professional players in the League of Legends scene. Notably, the standout Marksman of T1 and the LCK in general – Gumayusi, has shared his thoughts on the new champion Zeri after a few games during his Korean rank experience. In fact, Gumayusi even achieved a Quadrakill with Zeri.

“I don’t think this champion is good. Even if Zeri makes it to the professional scene, no one would want to pick her, especially in the current meta. Zeri’s auto-attack mechanism isn’t appealing; I don’t think she fits this meta.”
In fact, we can see even in the game where Gumayusi used Zeri to climb ranks, the champion did not deal the damage expected. While Zeri can “hack speed” with her ultimate R – Spark Surge, speed alone means nothing without sufficient damage items. Additionally, in team fights in professional matches, players have the ability to position themselves extremely well. Therefore, it will be very difficult for Zeri to stack enough for Overload to start showing her superiority.
At this moment, Zeri has just appeared in Summoner’s Rift. With the feedback regarding the new champion, it seems that if Riot wants to bring Zeri into the professional scene, they will need to make many more adjustments so that the champion from Zaun does not become another “failed experiment.”
