While the League of Legends scene is currently in a lull between major tournaments, the global DOTA2 landscape is more vibrant than ever with numerous large and small tournaments happening across various regions. In Southeast Asia, the SEA DOTA Invitational 2020 is underway with the most elite representatives from the region competing in the group stage.
The team considered the strongest contender is none other than T1 DOTA2, known as a star-studded team featuring top players from the region such as Meracle, Forev, and Inyourdream. It has been quite a while (since last August) since this legendary organization has had a satisfying DOTA2 roster after a series of player changes and lackluster performances in tournaments.

However, in theory, things seem to be going well, but in practice against the strongest representatives from Vietnam, everything appeared to deviate from T1’s expectations. They managed a relatively hard-fought victory against The Boys, a stack of veteran Vietnamese DOTA2 players, with a score of 2-1. There were noticeable hiccups in this team’s gameplay, and that concern turned into reality when T1 fell 2-1 to Team Impunity, the strongest team in Vietnam.

Overall, this Bo3 matchup was a true showcase for Terrorblade, as both carry players from each team fulfilled their roles and led their teams to victory. However, Team Impunity’s player, Nghĩa Trương “Killua,” significantly outperformed the entire T1 team with his farming ability, boasting an incredibly high net worth. It was common to see our Terrorblade leading the rest by over 10k gold during the match.

However, farming is one thing; the teamwork and support among Team Impunity’s members were what truly led to their victory. Meanwhile, T1 made choices that failed to apply significant pressure to hinder Terrorblade’s farming or disrupt Team Impunity’s formation. Their draft was lacking, and their in-game movements were even worse; T1 accepted their defeat wholeheartedly with a score of 2-1.

With this crucial victory, Team Impunity is currently at the top of the SEA DOTA Invitational 2020 leaderboard, while T1, with one win and one loss, sits in the middle of the rankings. Although it’s still early in the group stage, Team Impunity’s overwhelming strength has us dreaming of a regional championship after many years of waiting. As for T1, they still need to strive harder to reach the level needed for the Major or The International.
