Last night, IEM Katowice, one of the oldest and most prestigious CS:GO tournaments, officially kicked off. With all the teams currently ranked in the top 10 of HLTV participating and an exciting DE bo3 format, this tournament is sure to deliver quality both in terms of professionalism and entertainment, providing the audience with a wide range of emotions.
The highlight of last night was the match between two teams currently in top form: FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere. While FaZe Clan showcased their dominance with three consecutive wins in Group A of the BLAST Premier Spring Series, Na`vi in Group B also excelled by defeating heavyweights like Astralis, Vitality, and Complexity to secure the top spot. Both teams have a large fan base, and this was undoubtedly an exciting showdown with high-level highlights from both sides.
Entering the first map de_Nuke, Na`vi had a better start with six consecutive round wins, but FaZe Clan quickly proved why they picked Nuke, winning rounds consecutively and finishing the first half with a score of 8-7. In the second half, with a CT-side advantage, NIKo and his teammates easily thwarted the opponent’s attacks, wrapping up map 1 with a commanding score of 16-9. Moving to map 2 de_Dust2, the two teams continued to battle for each round, delivering incredibly thrilling highlights. FaZe Clan had a streak of six round wins in the second half, pushing the score to 13-9, but the Na`vi members did not give up and fought with extreme tenacity and resilience. It’s also worth mentioning the timely standout performances from S1mple and Flamie that helped Na`vi successfully come back 16-14, sending the match to map 3 de_Overpass.
In the deciding map 3, FaZe Clan had a better start with a streak of six consecutive round wins, but the excellent entries from Boombl4 and Perfecto helped Na`vi secure necessary round wins. The first half ended with a score of 6-9, but in the second half, Na`vi played extremely solidly and completely dismantled the opponent’s attacks. Their desperate efforts only allowed FaZe Clan to secure a single round win before accepting defeat with a score of 10-16; Na`vi won the match 2-1 in a thrilling finish and advanced to the winners’ semifinals in Group A.
After this emotional victory, the ‘Golden Dragon’ fans once again celebrated wildly in the CS:GO groups with their classic “template” posts.
With this victory, Na`vi has secured a spot in the winners’ semifinals of Group A, where they will face Fnatic, who just defeated Renegades 2-0. FaZe Clan will have another chance in the losers’ bracket, needing to overcome Renegades to keep their hopes alive.
