For many players, the saying “Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster” is a theory that is hard to practice. However, applying it to League of Legends is quite simple, because you may not know what the enemy will do, but you will know what the enemy can do through your understanding of their champion.
Here are the best champions to play in the 10.8 meta; even if you don’t like to play them, you should still learn about their weaknesses and strengths:
Maokai – Top Lane

During the laning phase, Maokai will stack as much maximum health as possible with the Grasp of the Undying rune. Moreover, this keystone rune combined with his passive Sap Magic will heal Maokai for a huge amount of health every time he engages in combat. Since he needs to build full tank, Maokai’s wave clear will mainly rely on his Flamechompers.
When team fights erupt, Maokai’s role is quite simple – to hold back any enemies trying to dive onto his team’s carry, or Maokai can initiate the fight and stick to the enemy carry so they cannot attack anyone. With Maokai’s skill set that has a lot of crowd control, those roles are relatively easy; the important part is choosing the right angle to engage in the fight.

Malzahar – Mid Lane

In the laning phase, this champion can farm safely with his E+W combo combined with Q. On the contrary, he can also poke the enemy if he cleverly chooses the angle to kill minions and let his Malefic Visions from minions stick to enemy champions.
In team fights, the danger of Malzahar is that he can take down an enemy champion without facing any resistance, especially since the health of any enemy, whether tanky or squishy, drops just as quickly.
To counter his ultimate Nether Grasp, enemies often purchase Cleanse, however, if every member of the enemy team spends money on this item, Malzahar’s teammates will benefit a lot.

Tristana – Bot Lane ADC

Although Tristana with the Raining Blades build is still the hottest playstyle in the current meta, in the bot lane Tristana with the Press the Attack rune is no less dangerous.
One of the fundamental differences compared to playing mid lane is that Tristana has a supporting teammate, which gives her more confidence in jumping in with her E+Q combo. When using the keystone Press the Attack, Tristana doesn’t have the insane attack speed as Raining Blades but will deal huge damage to enemies after three basic attacks, especially powerful when combined with her Explosive Charge (E).
At the end of the laning phase, Tristana can roam more freely if she has a support to back her up, fulfilling all roles in the match whether it’s pushing towers, dealing damage over time, or picking off enemies.

Lulu – Support

As one of the most versatile supports in League of Legends, Lulu is now even stronger in a meta filled with many fighters. The reason is that Lulu’s diverse skill set can hex, slow, reveal, or knock up melee fighters with ease. On the other hand, Lulu can also empower the strength of fighters to the maximum level, and in terms of speed and effectiveness, she is much more dangerous than Yuumi.
In team fights, Lulu will try to protect her teammates as best as she can, prioritizing the carry to ensure they fulfill their role. If she wants to play more aggressively, Lulu can temporarily overlook the safety of her team’s ADC and stick closely to her team’s main fighter to wipe out the enemy team.
