In the second week of competition, SofM’s Suning Gaming unexpectedly secured two crucial victories against EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming. Unfortunately, the Lions could not maintain their momentum as they faced a Fun Plus Phoenix team riding high on a three-game winning streak.
The match between FPX and SN in week 3 of the LPL Spring 2020 group stage can be summed up in two words: “destruction,” as the reigning champions had a relatively easy time against SofM and his team.
In both games, SN could only hold their ground in the early stages before FPX continuously initiated major team fights in the later phases. When you find yourself in an endless combat scenario against a team boasting some of the world’s top players, the outcome is all too clear; SN simply had no chance to retaliate.
Losing to FPX is not necessarily a disaster for SN; however, it does bring them back to reality after their two previous victories. SofM’s Suning continues to sit in the lower half of the standings after their fifth match with 2 wins and 3 losses. Nevertheless, they will have the opportunity to improve their score this week as they are set to face LGD Gaming – a team that is also quite unstable and has relatively poor form.
