In the LCK region, Teddy is a player beloved by many Korean LoL fans for his talent and gentle personality. Just a few days ago, Teddy’s contract renewal with T1 until 2020 received enthusiastic support from many fans.

However, unlike the Korean fans, Teddy’s contract renewal with T1 has faced numerous insults from the Chinese LoL community. It all started from a post with the topic “Do you think Teddy’s performance deserves a long-term contract with T1?” Here are some responses from Chinese fans to the question above:

As an LPL fan, I find this contract valuable.

Wow, LPL fans are thrilled that Faker continues to bring a ‘useless weight’ to the Worlds team, just like Uzi had to endure.

Teddy is the most overrated name I’ve ever seen.

He plays decently against other LCK bot lanes, but he can’t seem to win against international opponents.

What a waste of money.

Could it be because Teddy is ‘cheap’?
Teddy has never disappointed LPL fans at international events.

The ‘brain-dead’ management of T1 is really incompetent, signing a long-term contract with a 22-year-old AD carry who has never shined on the international stage, not to mention his recent decline in performance.

Many Western fans have also stepped up to defend Teddy, arguing that since joining SKT T1 (and T1), Teddy has secured three LCK championships, so at least in Korea, no one can say Teddy is overrated compared to his actual ability. Regarding the international stage, Teddy has only participated in two major tournaments, MSI 2019 and Worlds 2019 (MSC 2020 was a friendly tournament, so it doesn’t count), but he achieved top 3-4 both times, so it cannot be said that he is overrated. Ultimately, Teddy’s fans and T1 supporters believe that there is no need to pay attention to the negative responses from the Chinese LoL community; time will tell if Teddy deserves a long-term contract with T1 or not.
