LoL: 5 Reasons Why Gamers Dominate the Lane but Struggle in Team Fights

Just because you're 'fed' doesn't mean you can gank the team...

This is undoubtedly a situation that many gamers have experienced: we have a phase of “dominating the lane,” pushing minions at top, outplaying the jungler, but when it comes to a 4v4 or 5v5 team fight, we feel clumsy and ineffective compared to the early game.

Where does the problem lie? Today we will discuss it.

1| Players build items solely for laning

This means the items you’ve built during the laning phase serve only one purpose: to make it impossible for your opponent to breathe, unable to lift their head.

However, these items do absolutely nothing for the rest of the enemy team. Take a simple example: you’re playing a tank in the top lane and encounter a troublesome Teemo.

You decide to go full magic resistance so that his attacks won’t hurt, and every time you see him, you dive headfirst to CC him until he gets discouraged. And you know how this story goes: when all four other teammates are dealing physical damage, they take you down in a few hits, and now what can you contribute?

2| Players don’t choose their angles for team fights

Or you guys have just had a glorious laning phase, which makes you incredibly “high”; you just go in and fight without considering angles.

Or you’ve never thought about choosing an angle when entering a fight, even though it’s extremely important.

The laning phase only provides a slight advantage in gold and buffs before the major team fights begin; choosing an angle to approach the fight in the most favorable way will help you materialize those advantages.

What do you think will happen if a Wukong with three items dives into the backline of the enemy?

3| Often arriving late to major team fights

Just because you dominate the lane doesn’t mean that your opponents will always be there for your teammates to bully. In some cases, a clever player who is losing their lane can actively leave the tower and minions to join their teammates and create a numbers advantage.

While you’re happily farming minions, a 4v5 fight is happening on the other side of the map, and by the time you finally arrive, your teammates have already learned how to count.

A pivotal fight occurs, and all your laning advantages are gone!

4| You have a team composition that doesn’t synergize

We often hear the term “wombo combo” referring to champions whose abilities synergize well together, creating a combo with high damage and long crowd control.

If the enemy has such wombo combos and your team does not, you will find yourself getting eliminated in combat.

I know you might only be comfortable playing a few champions, but you should choose them to ensure they somewhat fit your team composition.

5| Finally, and most frustrating: You are the only one who dominated the lane!

This means that aside from you, the other lanes are all feeding heavily… causing high blood pressure; every lane is struggling. If that really happens, even if you want to fight well, it will be tough; the enemy team is just too strong—how can you not feel ineffective?

Have you experienced any of the situations above? Let’s discuss!
