With major international tournaments around the world being canceled or played online, the competitive spirit between regions seems to be declining. This leads to the ranking of who the best players are or which team is the strongest in the world lacking a satisfactory answer. The reason is that we do not have any convincing basis to accurately assess a region or a few players.

Recently on social media, a debate erupted again and this time the topic is about mid laners, with the participants being casters from two channels, LPL and LCK. Specifically, English caster Hysterics from the LPL channel stated that he is certain Rookie and Knight are the top mid laners in the world.
He later clarified that ShowMaker and Chovy from LCK are also exceptional and nearing the level of the two aforementioned players, and the answer to who is better can only be determined at Worlds. However, this did not satisfy the fans or professionals from LCK at all, as English caster Atlus from the LCK channel sharply countered Hysterics, claiming that he has a very narrow-minded perspective.

Caster Hysterics: “The two best mid laners in the world right now are clearly Knight and Rookie. Anyone who disagrees clearly hasn’t watched enough LPL to judge.”
“Basically, I believe that apart from the two names mentioned, ShowMaker and Chovy both play very well and can reach that level. I enjoy the debate between regions, so bring on Worlds for me.”

Caster Atlus: “I half agree and half think you’re being narrow-minded by judging or evaluating others like that.”
Caster Hysterics: “Well, there’s only one way to prove whether I’m right or wrong.”
Caster Atlus: “That’s not what I meant.”
Caster Hysterics: “I wouldn’t call that narrow-minded thinking; rather, it’s confidence. But I see where you’re coming from. When you’re confident about something, it’s really easy to aim for the goal.”
Caster Atlus: “I think you just described that narrow-minded thinking.”
Caster Hysterics: “I’m very good at defending my point of view.”
Caster Atlus: “If I need a duelist, I know who to call.”

Indeed, if the debate remains “dry” on social media, both LPL and LCK regions have their own arguments to assert that their team is better or their player is greater. Therefore, the most accurate measure to evaluate the strength or level of teams or players is always the results of competition at Worlds. From now until this tournament concludes, fiery debates like this are likely to continue.
