Recently, a League of Legends player expressed frustration after losing ranked points while playing a normal match. Annoyed by this unusual issue, the player took to the League of Legends community to “plead their case.”

For players who prioritize ranked points and aim to climb higher ranks, every win and ranked point they earn is valuable. Therefore, losing 9 points in such an unclear manner left this player “sleepless” and distressed.

However, after “pleading their case” to the League of Legends community, many quickly pointed out that this player, “485,” did not actually “lose points unfairly.” In the previous match, “485” had already lost 9 points due to a defeat in a ranked game, but they had “skipped” the post-game processing. As a result, when this normal match concluded, “485”‘s ranked points were processed, leading to the deduction of points in a normal match.

Nevertheless, Riot Games’ ranking point calculation system in League of Legends has been sarcastically referred to by the community as “spaghetti code” (indicating that it is programmed in a messy, convoluted way). Many players took this opportunity to “poke fun” at Riot Games’ “200 years of experience,” as the ranked system has faced various issues related to hidden Elo recently.
On the other hand, many professional players see this as quite normal since it does not cause anyone to lose ranked points unfairly.
