Over a year ago, G2 Esports stunned the world by moving Caps to the mid lane and pushing Perkz down to the AD carry position, yet still claimed the LEC title, MSI, and finished as the runner-up at Worlds 2019. Earlier this year, G2 Esports swapped Caps back to AD carry, with Perkz returning to mid lane. It seemed this ‘circus’ would settle for at least a year, but today G2 Esports announced another role swap between Wunder and Mikyx (top lane and support) on their personal Twitter accounts:

“Due to recent success in solo queue and within G2, we have decided to move G2 Wunder to the support position. With his proficiency on various meta picks, I am confident this is the right choice for the summer split.”

The same reasoning applies for moving Mikyx up to top lane.

“Even though Mikyx showed today in solo queue that he could be top 3 in the European jungle, G2 has decided to go through with the role swap. So no more Godlike Kha’Zix, sorry about that.” – G2 Esports coach announces.

“You can’t tell if G2 is trolling anymore” – many fans are unsure whether to believe this announcement, as G2 often plays around and boasts on their Twitter, but on the other hand, G2 has also proven they dare to say and do.
With this announcement of change, many “20-year fans” of G2 Esports have conspiracy theories suggesting that the team is proving every member belongs to the highest tier in the LEC, no matter what position they play. Others believe G2 Esports is trying to create a new trend in professional League of Legends, where every member can play at least two roles, greatly increasing the diversity of champion pools and strategies, making it impossible for opponents to predict what G2 will do next.
