LCK Expert’s Insight Before Game Day – ‘Damwon’s Top and Mid are Strong, but T1 and Faker Will Still Be Champions’

It seems that Faker and his teammates at T1 winning the LCK has become a norm now.

Only about a day left until the LCK Summer 2020 officially kicks off, this will be a crucial tournament as it directly decides the tickets to the 2020 World Championship. With the LPL becoming increasingly formidable and the European region posing unpredictable threats, the World Championship is no longer as straightforward as the previous LCK Autumn. Therefore, the LCK teams must perform exceptionally well in the upcoming summer split to earn the trust of the fans.

Before the tournament kicks off, expert, commentator, and former CloudTemplar player of the LCK had a long stream to answer players’ questions and share his insights on the upcoming tournament. He provided his audience with the most comprehensive and accurate view of both new teams and veteran squads.

Regarding Team Dynamics, the completely new squad of LCK Summer 2020, CloudTemplar believes they will likely struggle to perform well after being promoted. “I think their best player is top laner Rich” – CloudTemplar began – “I’ve encountered him in ranked a lot, and he has immense potential. The rest of the team has a traditional LCK playstyle, so it will be hard for them to win against more experienced teams.”

As for the team that has the potential for the biggest surprise, CloudTemplar pointed to Hanwha Life Esports – “I think they are a very unpredictable team, HLE can play like world champions and a tier-two team in the same Bo3 match. I believe Viper joining this team is a significant step forward, helping the team become a bit more stable.”

When asked about the top 3 of the upcoming LCK Summer, CloudTemplar firmly stated that nothing would change, T1 would still be the champion. “Are you asking about T1, DRX, or Gen.G? Honestly, there’s nothing to say” – CloudTemplar joked – “They haven’t had significant roster changes, the meta isn’t much different from spring, so the rankings will remain the same, T1 will be champions, with Gen.G and DRX following. Damwon might be fourth due to their strong top and mid, but that’s not enough.”

“The important thing here is how the teams perform internationally. At least T1 has realized that competing in the LCK and the World Championship is extremely different, and foreign teams are too strong, making it much harder to win the World Championship.” – CloudTemplar concluded.

The LCK Summer 2020 will kick off tomorrow – June 17 – with the first match between Afreeca Freecs and Sandbox Gaming, however, the highlight of the opening day will be the second match between DragonX and T1. Both teams are certainly aiming to maintain stability by keeping their rosters intact from spring, so it’s natural for them to go all out in this match.

Hopefully, Faker and Deft, the two leaders of T1 and DragonX, will perform at their highest level and bring an exciting start to the LCK Summer 2020.
