As 2021 comes to a close, the annual LCK Awards 2021 has announced its final results. As expected, the top awards of one of the world’s strongest League of Legends regions mostly belong to players and former players of DWG KIA. Notably, the all-star lineup features 3 out of 5 positions filled by DK players. This was predictable, given that DK has clinched championships in both domestic tournaments (LCK Spring 2021 and Summer 2021). Additionally, they were the runners-up in the two largest international tournaments in the League of Legends scene – MSI 2021 and Worlds 2021.

In addition to the team accolades, ShowMaker also received individual honors such as Mid Laner of the Year, LCK Player of the Year, and the Spring 2021 MVP. Alongside DK, T1 contributed two notable names. First is Keria, who made it to the all-star lineup of the year and was recognized as the Support of the Year. This is a well-deserved acknowledgment for this talented young player, as there were games last season where Keria’s plays single-handedly changed the outcome. Besides Keria, T1 also contributed another name: Faker. He received the Most Improved Player award from Kakao Webtoon compared to the previous season.

However, the most unfortunate aspect is that Chovy – the player dubbed the “golden spine” of the LCK and the League of Legends scene – ended up with nothing. Although Hanwha Life Esports had a rather unsuccessful 2021 season, Chovy stood out as one of the brightest names, even rivaling the likes of ShowMaker and Faker. Yet, this season has passed, and the 2001-born player left without any achievements.

Nonetheless, Chovy is still only 20 years old and is in the most developmental phase of his career. Furthermore, in the new season, he will no longer have to shoulder the burden of “carrying the team” all the time. Many fans hope that this will free Chovy, allowing the former DRX star to showcase his talent more comfortably, bringing titles not only for himself but also for the entire Gen.G Esports team.
